Sorry to say this but this topic is actualy pretty old. And i appologize for what i'm about to say but this pretty much revolves arround jealousy. Some people have luck some people have farms some people are verry unlucky(I've been unlucky for a big period of time so i know why you would like every skin to be available.).
But this would take out:
1: The replayability of the game.
2: Personality creation by effort.
3: The fun of finding ways to get a certain item.
If you don't like the farming comunity don't do it(although i'm pretty sure you do it as well). It is a way of playing the game and the game allows it. That some weapons are overprized ok i agree maybe some prices should be lowered. But for certain things it is just so hard to get that the effort should bring you atlewast the ammount of money it is worth(in this economy).
And furthermore you don't have to grind endlessly for things you want, just think realy well about what you want first make that your goal and go for it. Eventualy you can get it.
By my opinion this topic should be closed but that is not up to me. I bet if you find that perfect drop worth hundreds of K's you wont think of this topic anymore.

are you just lazy or something? I dont want to work for anything and I want everything given to me. I think everyone should have fow armor as grinding is boring to me so I want it cheap.
Collectors and green items not good enough for you? Zomg i need a perfect crystalline sword.
Anet will never do it so quit winging. Its not hard to make gold and maybe you should stop being lazy.

Before Factions (way before) when my ranger was roaming the lands of Tyria, she saw a high-level wielding a feathered longbow. It was sooooo cool looking and she set about trying to find (not farming rather limits the odds of a find but it's not impossible and crafted ones weren't that good really as well as being very expensive). Although she ended up with three different ones (all modded differently) by end-game, it was apparent that the feathered skin was relatively rare and highly desireable. New players ooohed and ahhhhed over the bow and perhaps dreamed of having one just as she had in the beginning.
Then Factions came out. One of the first bows that dropped on Shing Jea was a short bow---with a feathered skin! What blasphemy was this?!?
Her 'rare' skinned bow was no longer desireable but rather was ho-hum. Now everyone wanted the Celestial (got one), the Bramble (still looking for a good one), or a bat-winged bow (still contemplating).
My ranger collects bows--and uses them. I refuse, however, to pay 250K for Urgoz's longbow. You have the choice to pay the crazy prices, go out and find your own rare skins, or simply use whatever weapon you find that is effective. Having a merchant or crafter whip up every skin in the game won't change those choices.

I can also see why there is a desire to have all skins available; mainly cause I have horrid luck on finding any loot when I play. I mean, horrid. heh
Using the ranger example as above, I have yet to find a bow with better stats than the custom made Ascalon Collector bow I made ages back... that's how poor my luck is.
Personally, though, I honestly never really pay attention to what another player is wielding nor do I honestly care. I never, and I mean never, buy/purchase/sell to other players. I've sold and trashed green items to merchants (from tombs), sold perfect mods (usually from axes and staves - which I have no need for) to merchants simply because I don't have the patience to stand around for five minutes saying WTS.
Skins should be kept as finds for the most part, but I feel we need some of the skins to be craftable and used as money sinks.
Jade and Amber should have weapon carfters wanting those components.
Platinum weapons need crafters that need actual Platinum bars (made by handing over mass platinum).
And so on. Other skins need to remain rare though just for the "Oooh" factor. It does make it fun for many... not me as I don't really think about it much, but... yea.

Not having everything available simulates a sense of accomplishment, something that keeps people hooked and playing.
This thread is complete flamebait, by the way.

If this game is too difficult or challenging, maybe you would be interested in a nice on-line puzzle or perhaps Pac-Man.

I love the last 2 posts and agree totally.
To the post about the feathered longbow.... collectors have them now also with 15^50 hehe.
There are people that only play this game for the economy. Its like a stock market game and it gives great pleasure. I think that alot of nice items and armor have been made too available for some and there needs to be even harder to get items added. Heck lets get a new Factions only style UW or Fissure and get Elite Armor.
If everyone had the same stuff then why play the game.I sure wouldnt. I stopped playing for a few months before factions came out because of the last new area with Victo's crap. All those new greens in a constant easy to farm area just killed the economy and self accomplishment level.
There are some things that arent meant for everyone and darnit thats how it should be.
If you see something you like and want learn skills to get it. Learn to buy and sell. Learn to farm. Spend the time and hope for that drop. Do what it takes. Or just use easy to obtain collectors weapons and deal with it.

When you can get a 20/20 sundering max axe req 9, +5 energy and enchants last 20% longer for 5k ... can you imagine what such a weapon would have brought 6 months ago? 100k + 100 ecto? If you can't afford 3k for a max weapon mod (for staves at least) you really need to evaluate how you are playing the game.

thats what you do after you beat all the missions......
if we all beat the missions and the end of the game n all and we had the coolest stuff we wanted in whatever skin we liked the game would be POINTLESS, the only thing that keeps me playin since ive beaten both games is my want for the coolest lookin stuffs in the game, a max req 8 15^50 furious of fortitude crystalline sword, a +30 - 2 stance shadow sheild (not a green) etc. etc. if i had that stuff already game would be pointless and boring imo.
(and thered be nuthing to farm for, u'd just repeat quests over n over n over for nuthing)

Dammit!! I want one of the toilet tissue tubes for my collection.
BoT..I prefer showing my economic standing through collecting the best golds and rarest skins, instead of armor, but to each his own. Anyone can have FoW sets for all their toons, but do they have a rare gold Crystalline or any other choice of skin that appeals to you?
For me.. collecting weapons gives me a goal. For others, they could care less about skins or armor, or whether an item is green, blue, purple, or the coveted perfect gold. Maybe a peek at my humble mule #1 inventory will get the ball rolling for you. Thats what did it for me, seeing all those uber cool/pricey skins. Without some type of goal after you finish the game, it really becomes boring, unless you enjoy pvping 24/7.
Yes, Pac-Man RULEZ!!! and Ms. Pac-Man is a hottie!

firstly, what problem?
secondly, I don't see any overpriced items, I see horribly underpriced ones, and ones that are prices just nicely. in fact, because items are so underpriced recently, I'm almost out of money. stupid factions

I dont think that will help much, it would help for people who are farming to get weapons / money for weapons. But there are people who need money (gold) for various other things. There will still be those who farm for cash to buy the ingame items that they want

Exactly how COULD you buy this that long ago? +5 energy items (Not including HoD Swords) were brought by factions. Your analogy is completely worhless, but ill still analyze it.
No, you wouldnt be able to buy it for 5k. If you could then the seller is
A) Rich
B) REALLY REALLY OUTRAGEOUSLY Desperate
C) A New Player
And no this is a bad idea.

What a concept! No economy and everybody gets everything they want without playing the game. I guess the object would be how quickly you could click "craft" at the Weapons NPC. Erm, rather doubtful Anet would take this suggestion to seriously ROFL

Or maybe these people are no good at trading, like me. I couldnt sell icewater in Hell for a nickle a gallon. Ive had a few sales jobs IRL, and made almost nothing at it(stupid commision... ). Its why Ill never take another sales job. In game, itd probably take me a few weeks to get 3k, as I play all my characters(dont believe in muling, but am aware of benefits). Also, my warrior had an unmodded 1 off max damage Wingblade, but of course, its "worthless", because of ONE POINT! ROFL! That always cracks me up. Anyone have a one off max damage weapon, let me know, I might give you the "pittance that its worth".

Pffft.....If everything is given to you, why even bother playing the game? Farming for the rare 'skin' items is the reason why I'm still playing GW.
